Hey! I’m Meghan. Your friendly birth & postpartum doula

My mission is to provide my clients with the opportunity for a relaxed pregnancy, empowered birth experience and an informed joyful and resilient postpartum period that they are hoping and dreaming of. I will help to guide my clients to achieve the best birth experience and have their options known and understood. I want them to know that I realize the value of labour and postpartum support through my own struggles and joys. Having a trusted and known support person for both partners that they can rely on for reassurance, guidance and support during birth and postpartum is invaluable. It can be the difference between fear and confidence.

What People Are Saying

“Amazing! Meghan was a great support for myself, my husband and our new daughter. She made our speedy labour feel calm and safe. Meghan was encouraging and helpful during prep, birth and postpartum. She was a jack of all trades, from helping with pain management to taking pictures during birth to helping move around towels and pillows ensuring I was comfortable. She was knowledgable and assisted with skin to skin contact and breastfeeding initiation after our daughter was born. At one week postpartum the pandemic began and Meghan made sure to continue helping me virtually and assisted with any questions my husband and I had. We would definitely use her in the future and highly recommend her as a Doula!”

“Hands down, the best postpartum support! Meghan helped our family through some very difficult and challenging times. She went above and beyond for our son while still always making time for our older daughter. She gave us the peace of mind to be able to have some much needed down time while she was there and the ease of knowing we never had to worry. We will be forever grateful to her for all she did for our little one!”

“The first two words that come to mind when
I think of Meghan are “life saver”! I could not have gotten through my pregnancies and birth without her. She always put my mind at ease and was always there when I needed her. So calm, supportive, kind and gentle. Always encouraging and helpful. Meghan was an invaluable asset to us through all stages of birth and postpartum. She made me feel extremely comfortable and offered non-judgmental open communication with all my concerns. I could not be more thankful that she was by my side every step of the way. I strongly recommend Meghan and I would not hesitate to use her again!”

 FAQs

  • Absolutely!! Lets have a look and discuss why it may not work the first time, set some goals. We can talk about skin to skin and the importance of this once baby is born. We will discuss techniques, positioning, proper latch and have an understanding of successful breastfeeding before and after baby arrives.

  • Yes!!! Working with your Doula for a birth preference you can plan together what you may want to change or keep the same as your last birth. You may have more questions that your Doula can explain and support you through. Postpartum support will be key as well. You will be able to get some extra rest or spend some one on one time with you other child or even one on one time with the baby….maybe even grab some quiet time with your partner!! You’ll have that in home support emotionally, physically and mentally through your fourth trimester.

  • Absolutely NOT! Your partner is “your person” nobody knows you better than them. Your partner is an asset to your Doula...as your Doula can be an asset to your partner. We can work together to provide you with the support that you need and want. Your Doula will have the knowledge of labour, birth and postpartum...your partner has the knowledge of knowing what works best for you, they can read your eyes, your voice and your vibes. Your Doula is also a key support for your partner to encourage them and help to keep them informed form an evidence based perspective as well.

  • I LOVE all things baby!!!! From a young age all I want was to be a Mom! I loved babies, I loved pregnant belly’s! After having my own kids and experiences feelings, emotions and physical changes….all in which I was not prepared for! I watched family & friends experience the same and having the support from someone who was trained and in their “corner” in my corner, would have made such a huge difference. One major reason within the past few years I have learnt that having extra support, having a familiar face and someone both partners can rely on is invaluable. With so many changes in our health care system having a Doula not only offers you knowledge and support but it also allows you to build a relationship with your birth team and have someone that you both chose to be on this journey with you!! It is one of the most rewarding jobs, watching and seeing families grow and learn.

  • I did my Doula training with Doula Canada. I certified in their Dual Stream program for labour, birth & postpartum and then furthered my education in their Infant and Pregnancy Loss Support. I have taken courses in breastfeeding through CAPPA, as well as a 3 part course outline through Mohawk College. I have my CPR, Infectious Disease training, Developmental Psychology and now I am enrolled in a PROnatal fitness course to better my knowledge in the body for Pre Baby and all 4 trimesters.

  • Yes!!! I’m happy to support you at the location that you have chosen. Do please keep in mind that I am your support person and not your medical team. So you MUST have your medical team aware/prepared for your location as well.

  • This may be provided if requested and/or I have multiple births due to occur in a close time frame. My goal is to support my clients the best that I can. I do have all intentions to be at your birth so I take this into consideration when booking clients. If a back up is needed/requested I will set a meet and greet with both parties and go over birth preferences and postpartum needs.

  • Absolutely!! I want everyone to feel comfortable and what better way to get a feel for who I am or what I offer. Having the option to connect with a Mama or Family that I have worked with is the best reference first hand!

  • I want the absolute best for every family I work with! I value the importance of making informed decisions, advocating for what you want/believe in. I encourage my clients to ask questions, you can never ask to many, whether they are direct at myself or your health care team. First and foremost, I remind my clients that this is YOUR body and YOUR baby….so ask away :). I am energetic when need, but can also be very calming and encouraging :)

  • I started my training in early 2018. Completed my certification in 2020 and have continued my education throughout the past few years. I truly feel I have been in the “Doula” role much longer and just had no idea ;) I took for granted what I did on a daily bases…being a Stay at home Mom, helping friends and family along their journeys all led me to the place I am today. I am so grateful for the experiences I have gained and friendships I have made along my journey.
